Effatha - Be Opened
Worldwide Initiative
Praise be to God for doing impossible and gathering people from over 80 countries to unite us in prayer!
Prayer expresses our dependence on Jesus, a recognition that without Him, we can do nothing (Jn 15:5).
Intercessory prayer recognises the reality that God is alive and active in the world today. It trusts that through the power of the Holy Spirit, the works of God are still manifested today, here and now in the situations of ordinary life. It believes that those who seek, find, and those who ask, shall receive. Based on the teachings of Jesus, it seeks the coming of the Kingdom of God and the renewal of all things.
The year 2021 has been challenging for Catholics, many have suffered the loss of loved ones. Closed churches have meant that they were also without the consolation of the Sacraments. Since the beginning of the pandemic many people have felt isolated, alone and fearful.
The year 2022 and the situation in Ukraine brought even more fear into peoples' hearts. People felt hopeless as they watched another crisis unfold in front of their eyes. This spirit of fear creates division, confusion and frustration.
In order to counteract this spirit of fear and hopelessness we felt that by coming together as one body, and creating an unbroken chain of prayer and adoration, we can instill in hearts once more the hope and joy that comes from putting Jesus at the centre of our lives.
Come back to the Church! To the parish priests, we ask you to support this initiative by opening your parish church for adoration and encouraging people to come back to Jesus and take an active part in the reparation and restoration of the world. Let's bring peace and love to the Earth.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth!
