Adoration

Why Perpetual Adoration for 40 days?

Miracle on the Vistula is a powerful testimony of the power of perpetual adoration when devoted Poles prayed for 40 days to stop communism to spread across the whole of Europe.

Miracle on the Vistula

On May 20, 1920, the newly created Red Army crashed through the Polish frontier with one intention: to destroy all before it. Catholic Poland stood alone without help from any countries and decided to turn for help to Our Lady. The Polish people knew that the Red Army was heading towards them to attack Warsaw so for 40 days beforehand all parishes in Warsaw and in other towns in Poland had perpetual adoration with people praying day and night for the impossible: to win the battle with the smaller and weaker army! Future Pope Pius XI also did a Eucharistic procession through Warsaw’s street claiming them for the Lord.

During the Battle of Warsaw Our Lady appeared to the Soviet soldiers. The testimony of one of the Soviet soldiers in Warsaw museum says: “Around Her head shone a luminous halo, in one hand She held something like a shield from which the bullets fired towards the Poles would bounce and then return to explode hurting our army! Her wide, navy blue coat floated and waved in the wind, obscuring and protecting Warsaw...She was accompanied by troops of terrifying winged knights on horseback, wearing steel armour that shone in the darkness, covered with leopard skins. The hordes of spectral figures were clearly preparing for battle!”

Miracle of Vistula: When Our Lady Saved the World From Communism (EWTN)

Soviet soldiers fled the battlefield in terror because Our Lady was protecting the Polish soldiers. Miraculously the Polish Army with the help of Mother of God won the Battle of Warsaw. And Our Lady saved Poland and Europe from the spread of communism!

As ‘the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy’ (Rev 19:10) we believe that with our 40 days adoration we can restore the world now as Our Lady did during the Miracle of the Vistula in Poland.

Even a quarter of an hour’s prayer in front of the Eucharist perhaps gains more graces than all the other spiritual exercises of the day (outside of Mass).

Why Adoration?

When we pray to Jesus present in the Blessed Sacrament we meet His love. St John Vianney can help us understand the importance and beauty of Adoration:

The Miracle on the Vistula Rediscovered (Catholic Journal)

Our Lord is hidden there, waiting for us to come and visit Him, and make our request to Him. He is there to console us, and therefore we ought often to visit Him. How pleasing to Him is the short quarter of an hour that we steal from our occupations, from something of no use, to come and pray to Him, to visit Him…What happiness do we not feel in the presence of God, when we find ourselves alone at His feet before the Holy Tabernacle?

Every Holy Hour we make so pleases the Heart of Jesus that it is recorded in Heaven and retold for all eternity!
